PUDUCHERRY: The Federation for People’s Rights of Puducherry (FPRP) has urged the government to refer the case relating to the death of a youth belonging to Thengaithittu area to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
In separate memoranda to the government Chief Secretary , Collector, Inspector-General of Police, Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) and Superintendent of Police (south) on Monday, secretary of the FPRP G.Sugumaran called for immediate steps to exhume the body of Bala alias K. Deivasigamani (29) and send it for re-postmortem which had to be video-recorded.
Though the youth was murdered and the body, which was thrown into the Uppaar river on September 26, was secured on September 30, the Mudaliarpet police had registered a case under Section 174 Cr.PC. (unnatural death), he said.
The police had changed the case to Section 302 IPC (murder) on October 11 close on the heels of an attempt made by three suspects in the case to surrender before a court in Puducherry on October 10, he added.
