The Federation for Peoples Rights here today urged the administraton to order a judicial probe into the communal violence in Sandaipudukuppam and some other rural villages in Puducherry.
In a statement Here today, Federation Secretary G Sugumaran said all the clashes were sequels to the clash that errupted at Suthukkeni which could have been averted if the police initiated prompt preventive measures.
However, police miserably failed in this area, he alleged, adding several propetiers were damaged and a few injured and hospitalized.Police also failed to book cases under ‘atrocities against dalits’ act and th caluse was included after intertvention by several organisations.Adequate compensation be provided to the affected,he added.
He demanded that district collector must visit the areas and to take effective measures to prevent the recurrence of the clashes.
