The Federation for People’s Rights here today sought a high-level probe into the alleged prisoners rioting at the central prison here and the subsequent lathicharge on them two days back.
In a statement here today,Federation Secretary G Sugumaran said due to delay in the release of life convicts who had already served 14 years in the jail,they resorted to an agitation and stopped preparing food for undertrials resulting in a clash between them and the subsequent lathi charge.
Mr Sugumaran said according to reports, over 18 prisoners were injured and proper treatment not provided to them.
Hence, a high level probe should be ordered into the incident.
