The Federation for People’s Rights here today urged the Union Government to bring in a resolution in the UN urging an independent international enquiry into the genocide of innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka at a time when the American resolution will in no way help the Tamils in the island nation.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at a consultation meeting of the federation here today,according to a federation release here.
Another resolution urged the Puducherry administration to press the Centre to constitute the Cauvery Water Management board and Supervising Commitee.
Resolutions urging the immediate holding of local body elections in the union territory and urging the administration to take steps to release all life convicted prisoners who had served seven years,among others, were adopted in the meeting.
