Puducherry, UNI The Federation for People’s Rights today urged the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Governments to take immediate steps to cancel the bail granted to Puducherry police personnel who were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Athiyur Vijaya rape case.
In a statement here, Federation secretary G Sugumaran urged the governments to move an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Madras High Court order granting bail to them on November 6, 2006.
Condemning the territorial administration for its failure to dismiss the convicted police personnel, Mr Sugumaran urged the administration to dismiss them forthwith.
He also called upon the political parties and social organisations to come forward and seek justice for the victim.
