Puducherry, Mar 23 : About 104 volunteers of the Federation for Peoples Rights were arrested when they took out a procession to picket the legislative assembly complex, to press their demand.
They were demanding immediate removal from the post, special officer of Lalith Kala and Sangeet Nadak Accademy Mr Hariharan against whom several corruption charges were pending.
They volunteers gathered at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral and took out a procession before police stopped and arrested them.
The Puducherry Textile labourers Union affiliated to the AITUC held a demonstration in front of the Anglo French Textile Mills to press the union territory government to drop its move to close down the “A” unit of the mill.
Meanwhie, daily rated employees of the Puducherry Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) today observed a fast in front of the office of the managing Director to press their regularisation.
