News: Anti-Corruption Front stages demonstration

CUDDALORE: The members of the Anti-Corruption Front staged a protest in front of the Collectorate here on Monday.

The Front, an umbrella organisation consisting of at least 10 outfits, urged the authorities to speed up the Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the allegations of corruption in the Neyveli Lignite Corporation.

It stated that the employees who exposed the corrupt practices were either facing disciplinary proceedings or transferred or dismissed.

It called upon the Neyveli Lignite Corporation management to revoke the penal action against the employees.

It further observed that a general manager of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation in its Chennai office was caught red-handed when taking bribe recently.

Later, he was let out on a conditional bail that he should affix his signature every day on the registers of the CBI office at Kochi.

Among those who participated in the protest were Prabha Kalvimani of the Makkal Kalvi Iyakkam, G.Sukumaran of the Federation of People’s Rights— Puducherry, and, M.Nizamudeen of the Federation of Social Welfare Organisations of Cuddalore.
