Memorandum sent to Lt. Governor of Puducherry on 16.09.2009, regarding reinstatement of corrupt officer of Puducherry Planning Authority:
The Senior Town Planner of Puducherry Planning Authority (PPA) Mr. S.Sridarane was held in a corruption charge with ample of material evidence and on the complaint by the Member Secretary, PPA, the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Department (V & AC) of Puducherry filed a First Information Report (FIR) as referred above. After a prolonged period the said officer got anticipatory bail in the court. Subsequently, the Government initiated departmental enquiry and placed him under suspension till date.
The charges leveled against him are grave and there is lot of material evidence in this case of corruption. It is crystal clear that the said officer involved in corruption. But it is sorry to state that the V & AC is so reluctant in filing charge sheet after three years of filing FIR.
Unfortunately, we learn that due to some political pressure the said most tainted officer is going to be reinstated in service. The said act of the Government will surely show green signal to the corrupted officers to go ahead with corruption.
It also worth to note here a piece of speech delivered by Honourable Prime Minister that “The pervasive corruption in our country tarnishes our image.” In the light of PM’s speech, I would like to underline that if the delinquent officer is reinstated, it will surely “tarnish our image.”
So, in the public interest, we request Your Excellency’s kind intervention and take necessary steps to stop the reinstatement of the said corrupt officer. Also instruct the V & AC Department to file the charge sheet at the earliest to establish the Justice.
The same was also sent to the Chief Secretary and Secretary (Housing) of Government of Puducherry.
