Pondicherry Feb. 25. The Pondicherry unit of the Federation for People`s Rights has called for immediate revocation of the POTA .
G. Sugumaran the Secretary of the Federation who released copies of the resolutions adopted at the advisory committee of the organisation today said that the leaders of the Tamizhar Desiya Iyakkam, P.Nedumaran and his colleagues, the MDMK leader Vaiko and others were held under the POTA without any justification. All those held under the Act should be released without delay.
The Centre should ensure that the system of award of capital punishment was revoked as most of the countries had given up capital punishment. The Pondicherry police should drop the cases filed against the Iyakkam’s Pondicherry unit leader, R Alagiri. Cases were registered against him for his alleged support in his speeches to the Tamil Eelam.
