Different social organisations in Puducherry today urged PuducherrySpeaker V Sabapathy not to participate in the internationalspeaker’s conference in Sri Lanka.
In a letter to Mr.Sabapathy,the organisations pointed out that Sri Lankan President Rajapakshe is to inagurate the conference.
Mr Rajapakse was responsible for the massacre of Eelam Tamils and the UN had charged war crime against him, they claimed. Hundreds of Tamil fishermen were killed or jailed in Sri Lanka,they claimed and pointed out the Tamil Nadu Speaker was not taking part in the conference. Mr R Azhagiri(Tamizhar Desiya Iyyakkam),G Sugumaran(Federation for People’s Rights) and representatives of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam,Ambedkar Makkal Padai among others are the signatories to the letter.
