News: Shankararaman murder case:Activist approaches HC!

PONDICHERRY: A noted social activist of the Union territory has requested the Madras High Court to ensure that unnecessary security arrangements are not made for the next hearing of the Shankararaman murder case on December 12, disrupting the usual court proceedings.

Secretary of the Federation of People’s Rights’ G Sugumaran alleged that on November 28 when the accused including the two seers of Kanchi Mutt arrived at the Principal District and Sessions judge for hearing here, police had tightened the security in the premises causing much trouble to other litigants.

Almost all the entrances to the main court were closed and police cordoned the court premises for nearly three hours.

Even lawyers could not reach their chambers, he alleged.
