Puducherry Jan 9: The Most Backward Class Reservation Protection Committee (MBCRPC) here today urged the territorial administration to bifurcate the Social Welfare Department and form a Backward Class Welfare Department and hand over the charges to a minister belonging to BC or MBC.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting of the MBCRPC here today, committee coordinator G Sugumaran said in a release here.
Resolutions urging the governemnt to take steps to implement the recent BC commission recommendation providing 2.5 per cent internal reservation to BC Muslims from among the backward class category and steps to provide reservation only for Puducherry origin people of BC and MBC by fixing the cut off year as 1964, were adopted at the meeting.
