News: Fed plea to Govt on rain victim

The Federation for People’s Rights here today urged the administration to provide a compensation of Rs five lakh to the family of Philomina Mary of Celon Colony, near here, who was killed in a wall collapse during rain last week.

In a statement, Federation Secretary G Sugumaran said a fact-finding committee, constituted to go into the death of Philomina Mary, found her family in a pathetic condition with three daughters with one being insane.

The committee had recommended a government job to one of her daughters.

The federation also urged the administration to provide free house site pattas and construct houses for the people residing at the Celon Colony.

The report of the committee would be forwarded to the Lt Governor, Chief Minister, Ministers and others, he said.
