Puducherry, Apr 29 (UNI) Federation for People’s Rights here today urged the government to ensure 25 percent reservation for poor students in private schools under the Right to Education Act.
Pointing out that Tamil Nadu government had taken steps in this direction and issued orders for admission of 1,26,262 students in private schools, Federation Secretary G Sugumaran in a release here today urged the government to follow the suit.
Mr. Sugumaran regretted that though the Central government had introduced the Act in 2009, the Puducherry government had not taken any initiative to implement the same and steps were taken in this direction following a direction from Madras High Court.
