News: MBCRPC urges Pondy Admn to resend BC Commission’s report

Puducherry, Nov 26 : The Most Backward Class Reservation Protection Committee (MBCRPC) today urged the Puducherry Administration to immediately resend the Backward Class Commission’s report recommending 2.5 per cent reservation to BC Muslims for its review.

In a release here today, Committee Coordinator G Sugumaran said a resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting of the committee yesterday.

Another resolution condemned the Administration for it’s reluctancy to drop the move to derive 1.5 per cent reservation from Most Backward Class (MBC) to provide it to BC Muslims.

The meeting resolved to launch a ‘letter campaign’ by sending thousands of letters to the Lt Governor and Chief Minister to pressurise the government to implement their demands.

The meeting also resolved to hold a joint meeting of Muslim leaders of Tamil Nadu and MBC leaders of Puducherry in December to resolve the crisis in implementing the reservation for BC Muslims and to protect the prevailing MBC reservation.

Awareness meetings would also be conducted here to make people protest against the government move to cut MBC reservation, whcih is against the principle of social justice and law, Mr Sugumaran added.
