News: Federation hails handing over of murder case to CBI

Puducherry, Jul 11 : Puduchery-based Federation for People’s Rights today hailed, handing over of the murder case of Pondicherry University employee Jayaraman to the CBI.

In a statement here, Federation Secretary G Sugumaran said Mr Jayaraman was murdered for revealing the marksheet scam at the university, and even after one year of his murder, the Puducherry police could not arrest the culprits.

Mr Sugumaran said when Mr Jayaraman attempted to commit suicide on February 18, last year, he informed the police in presence of the doctors that the attempt was, following compulsion by higher officials of the university to accept that he changed the marks. Even after this Puducherry police did nothing.

In the meantime, Mother and brother of Jayaraman, moved the Madras High Court, to hand over the case to the CBI.

The Federation had sent a detailed letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, seeking to hand over the case to the CBI, he said and hoped that CBI would take steps to arrest the culprits and render justice to the affected family.
